How we make money

VSL Host Report is free to read and reader-supported. We make money from affiliate links: when you follow a link to a vendor and go on to buy, we may earn a commission. The price you pay is exactly the same.

Where the links are

Affiliate links appear on our reviews, comparisons, alternatives pages and the ranked roundup. Every page that carries one shows a disclosure above the first link, so you always know before you click.

What it does not do

It does not buy a ranking. We set our order on the evidence, for a specific kind of buyer, before any commercial consideration. A tool we earn nothing from can, and does, outrank one we do. When we recommend a tool, we also name its real drawbacks, because a recommendation with no downside reads bought.

Why we do it this way

Affiliate revenue lets the research stay free and lets us cover tools whether or not they run an affiliate program. If a tool we rate highly has no program, it still ranks where the evidence puts it; we simply earn nothing when you go to it.
